We have a chance now. I surmise that he saw Zelenskyy as a highly playable partner who is also extremely simple to work with.

His message is that everyone will be safer if we can stop Putin at the Ukrainian border. He has worked with audiences all of his life, so that experience is useful right now. He is skilled at holding the audience's interest and putting on, as the saying goes, a show. He wasn't the finest leader during peacetime, most likely. However, he excelled at the start of the conflict, inspiring optimism, bringing the country together, and igniting the flame of resistance.
He is no longer the president. He is the country's president. Many individuals in the nation find it motivating to observe how the capital, Kyiv, is maintained. It shouldn't be forgotten, in my opinion, that hundreds of average Ukrainians show even more bravery every day. citizens without weapons attempting to halt tanks with their hands alone. Zelenskyy is inspired by the common Ukrainian person's spirit. He has established his value as a leader of the country.
